The Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games will be Scotland’s biggest ever sports event, a celebration in which 71 nations, representing 2 billion people, will showcase their finest athletes.
The 17 sports that will be contested and enjoyed by millions of people worldwide have been selected to show our city at its best – breathtaking architecture, excellent venues and world class athletes competing at the peak of their abilities….and you too could contribute to this unforgettable occasion.

Commencing on Wednesday 23rd July 2014 and running to Sunday 3rd August 2014, the 17 sports will be contested in some of the finest current and planned UK sports venues, including Hampden Park, Celtic Park and Ibrox stadiums, Scotstoun Leisure Centre, Tollcross Park National Aquatics Centre and future venues including the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, the National Indoor Sports Arena and the Scottish National Arena.
Our plans for 2014 will create an environment where athletes can deliver the performance of their lives. However our games will not just be about the winners on the medal podiums – they will be a celebration of our city, our country and all of the people who contribute to ensuring their success.
